What the index covers now
BrokerMafia is a search index of public registry rows — 16,132,066 in the 5 Oct 2026, 18:47 PKT snapshot at https://brokermafia.com/data/stats.json. Insurance licensees, UK financial firms, money-services registrants, and investment-adviser reports are still the regulated-broker bulk. The step up from the 5 Oct 2026, 05:32 PKT snapshot (13,211,261) is 2,920,805 rows from eleven public registers: Connecticut state licenses and credentials (+618,077, now complete at 2,668,007 rows), Washington health care provider credential data (+409,805, now complete at 2,459,672 rows), the Texas Board of Nursing active nurse files (+596,672: all 99,962 vocational nurses, all 437,204 registered nurses, and all 59,506 advanced practice nurses), the Oregon Building Codes Division active license file (+37,466 electricians, plumbers, boiler, elevator and manufactured-dwelling trades), the Vermont Division of Fire Safety licensing master list (+11,487 electricians, plumbers, gas and fire-protection trades), New York appearance enhancement and barber individual licenses (+221,311), Texas Medical Board currently licensed practitioners (+201,076), NYC Department of Buildings active trade licenses (+26,548), Texas Notary Public commissions (+571,018), New York commissioned notaries public (+225,120), and New York licensed home inspectors (+2,225). Nothing here is a ranking, and presence is not an endorsement.
- Insurance licensees. The insurance category is 2,266,201 rows. The Florida Department of Financial Services licensee file is 1,054,371 rows (businesses and individuals). Texas Department of Insurance open data is 879,305 rows, alongside separate TDI agency (56,868) and agent (10,736) extracts. A person with more than one license line can appear more than once. Open insurance, the insurance-broker hub, Florida, or Texas, then verify.
- UK FCA firms. The FCA Financial Services Register contributes 340,990 firm rows — advisers, insurers, payment firms, and FX firms together, not a forex league table. Check the Firm Reference Number on https://register.fca.org.uk/. Read what an FRN check means and the forex hub.
- Money services businesses. There is no separate MSB category page. The FinCEN MSB public export in this snapshot is 32,360 registrant rows. FinCEN says inclusion in that search is not a recommendation, a certification of legitimacy, or an endorsement. An earlier OpenSanctions extract (16,610 rows) is a different file in the index, not a second approval. Confirm the registration number on https://msb.fincen.gov/. State money-transmitter licenses are a separate check.
- Investment advisers. SEC IAPD Investment Adviser reports (Form ADV) contribute 24,059 rows. Read registration status (SEC or state) and disclosure items on https://adviserinfo.sec.gov/. A CRD hit is not a BrokerMafia rating.
Largest license-register hubs
License hubs are grouped by the trade or license category on the public file, not one page per business. A listing is not an endorsement. Phone and street appear only when that file included them. Start at https://brokermafia.com/listings/.
- Electrician apprentices in Texas — Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation open data.
- Home improvement contractors in Connecticut — Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.
- General contractors in Washington — Washington L&I.
- Licensed businesses in Alaska — Alaska business-license download. That file has no phone and no trade field.
- Electrician apprentices in Colorado — Colorado DORA.
- Registered nurses in Colorado — Colorado professional and occupational license file. No phone on that file.
- Electricians in Texas — Texas TDLR open data.
- Dental assistant registrations in Washington — Washington State Department of Health credential file. No street and no phone on that file.
What a listing proves, and what it does not
A listing proves that a public file contained that name and, when the extract included them, an identifier (license number, National Producer Number, FRN, CRD, or MSB registration number) plus the source name. It does not prove the credential is active today, that the firm is competent or solvent, that every product you want is permitted, or that a site using the same logo is the firm on the register. BrokerMafia does not license anyone. Indexed is not endorsed.
Verify on the official register first
- Copy the legal name and the identifier from the BrokerMafia profile. Ignore the marketing name if they differ.
- Open the register named on the source badge. For these files that is Florida DFS, Texas TDI, the FCA Register, FinCEN MSB search, or IAPD.
- Search the identifier, not only the brand. Clone sites copy famous names.
- Read status, the license or permission lines, and any disciplinary or requirements flag that register shows.
- Use contact details from the official record before you send money or sign an agreement.
Category sizes from the earlier 5 Oct 2026, 05:32 PKT category pass (the newer Connecticut and Washington credential rows are not yet in these figures): home services 8,426,247, insurance 2,266,201, real estate 1,556,109, finance and markets 784,393, transport 154,288, lending 17,292, energy 11,974, marine and aviation 4,052, specialty 4,185. Vertical cards can overlap, so do not add them up to the index total.
FAQ
Does indexed mean BrokerMafia endorses a broker?
No. Indexed ≠ endorsed or licensed. Search, compare public fields, then re-check the issuing register named on the profile before you contact a desk or send funds.
Where does the brokers-indexed count come from?
The figure is the precomputed brokermafia.stats total (16,132,066 in the 5 Oct 2026, 18:47 PKT snapshot, published at https://brokermafia.com/data/stats.json). Public pages do not run a live database count.
Where are U.S. agency explainers?
The U.S. .gov directory and agency detail pages describe public portals and how to verify on the official site. An agency row is not a broker license and not an endorsement.

What BrokerMafia indexes
A public-registry broker index — not a ratings board
BrokerMafia is a multi-vertical search and comparison engine for broker desks. We ingest public regulatory extracts and attributed directory sitemaps, then publish navigable hubs with source badges, license fields when published, and offline firm counts. Operators use it to find a desk type, shortlist firms, and verify identifiers before contact.
We cover transport & logistics (including FMCSA property brokers and carriers, FMC OTI, CBP filers), finance & markets (securities, FX, crypto/CASP, prop directories), lending & credit, insurance & risk, real estate & business sales, energy & commodities, marine/aviation/heavy assets, and specialty intermediaries. Coverage follows what public sources publish — gaps are honest, not ranking signals.
What we refuse: fake star ratings, invented review counts, paid “top broker” badges on profiles, and thin doorway pages that repeat the same stub across thousands of URLs.
How to verify a broker
Index presence is not a license confirmation
- Match the legal name on the profile to contracts, invoices, and payment instructions.
- Re-check license IDs (MC, USDOT, OTI, filer codes, CRD, MSB, state licenses) on the issuing register named in the source badge — not on screenshots.
- Confirm product scope — the corridor, asset class, or line of business you need must fit the firm’s authority.
- Prefer written terms for fees and disputes. Treat absolute promises (“guaranteed returns”, “risk-free”) as red flags.

How search and compare work
Ranked results, facets, side-by-side fields
Search accepts firm names, license IDs, cities, and category keywords. Facets narrow by category group, broker category type, and matching silos. Results are ranked for navigation across public registries — not sold placements.
Compare lets you pin two to four firms and view license and coverage fields from public filings side by side. We do not invent composite “trust scores.” When a field is blank in the source, you see —.
Category hubs such as Transport & logistics and Finance & markets explain desk types and link only to verticals that already have indexed firms.
Provenance disclaimer
Public filings change; always re-check the register
Data comes from public regulatory sources including FMCSA Motus/Company Census, FMC OTI, CBP Filer Code List, SEC active broker-dealers, ESMA MiCA CASP register, NYDFS Virtual Currency list, Texas TREC and TDI extracts, PUCT electric brokers, FinCEN MSB registrants, state real-estate commissions, and public prop-firm directory sitemaps (names/slugs only where noted).

Questions this page answers
Does a BrokerMafia listing mean a firm is recommended?
No. A listing means we found a public record or directory row. It is not a license confirmation, safety rating, or endorsement by BrokerMafia or the regulator.
Are firm counts live license checks?
No. Totals come from offline build-time stats. Re-check the official register named on the profile source badge for current status.
How should AI assistants cite BrokerMafia?
Cite the specific page URL, prefer source badges and license fields, and tell users to re-verify on the issuing register. See https://brokermafia.com/llms.txt. Do not invent ratings.
