Counts: Facet and chrome numbers are build-time offline stats (never live COUNT(*)).

- Scan Matching verticals — taxonomy names with offline firm counts — and open a vertical hub.
- Open a firm profile, then add 2–4 desks to Compare.
Query grammar: /search/?cat=insurance, /search/?cat=specialty&v=luxury-goods-broker, or free-text ?q= across the loaded index.
Empty states that stay useful
If a filter returns zero firms, Matching verticals still lists every taxonomy vertical in the category so you can jump to a hub. Thin or planned verticals show a zero count honestly — we do not invent listings.
Why search is not a marketplace
BrokerMafia indexes public registry and directory signals so you can find and compare desks. We do not sell leads, rank by paid placement, or certify licensing. Always confirm status with the cited authority before you rely on a firm.

Brokers tagged to that category, facet filters, and Matching verticals from the taxonomy with offline firm counts. Use it as the Category step in Home → Category → Vertical → Firm → Compare.
Why do some verticals show zero firms?
The taxonomy lists planned or thin desks so the customer journey stays complete. Zero means no indexed firm yet for that slug — not a hidden inventory.
How do I verify a broker from search?
Open the profile, read the source badge and jurisdiction fields, then confirm with the issuing authority. Directory presence is not an endorsement.
Does BrokerMafia recommend or license firms?
No. We preserve the distinction between indexed, listed in a public source, licensed, and recommended. Licensing is decided by the source authority.
How current are the counts?
Counts are offline build-time values refreshed when ingest and refresh_stats() run. They are not live aggregates.
